Commercial products
Riverworks, Inc. has developed a small handheld computer that collects GPS, photographs, morphology, and field conditions as you assess a site. While considerably more expensive than waterproof paper, this might just be a tool that can help you save time and more importantly prevent you from missing important information while out in the field.
